Sport Injuries

Our mission at Ultra Physical Therapy & Hand Center is to get you back to top level performance as quickly as possible. As competitive athletes ourselves, we understand the pain and frustration both physically and psychologically of not being able to do what you love (and need) to do. From occasional athletes of all ages, to elites we are here to help.

How we help

Our focus at Ultra is to return our athletes to a physical state that exceeds prior performance metrics AND with a decreased risk of injury.

What we do

Design and implement evidence based effective individualized treatment programs that may include:

Manual Therapy

Joint and soft tissue mobilization to help facilitate movement and reduce pain. We provide specialist manual therapy care, by therapist who are certified in mobilization techniques that help decrease pain and improve function.

Strength Conditioning

Identify less efficient muscle groups and/or movement patterns, and design functional exercises to strengthen and improve neuro-muscular coordination for your sport.

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)

Skilled techniques that help improve range of motion with flexibility-based treatments, and can help increase strength and neuromuscular firing patterns when incorporated into a strengthening program.

Core Strengthening and Balance Training

Having a strong core is very important for posture and overall stability. Think of your core musculature (or abdominal muscles) as the anchor from which your upper and lower limbs function. Without a strong core, you're more likely to be prone to injury during sport, or even everyday life. A strong core is also responsible for your sense of balance. We design specific exercises to help improve core strength, balance and co-ordination.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)

This technique uses stainless steel instruments to help soft tissue injuries to the connective tissues, muscles, neurological tissues and skin. It is effective for soft tissue injuries like repetitive stress injury, strains, sprains and subluxations.

‘Game Ready’ Compression and Cryotherapy

Leading technology designed to get people back to their best after injury or surgery. Used by elites and sports teams around the world, and clinically proven to decrease pain, muscle spasms, and swelling, without the use of narcotics.

Education to optimize your best outcomes and prevent re-injury.

Running Analysis and Assessment

Serves many purposes, firstly we can identify specific weakness in muscle groups just by watching you run. Secondly visual feedback can help you correct compensatory patterns that you may have developed. Finally, using specialized software, we will give you feedback on your form to help improve your running efficiency and ultimately speed.

Run Analysis & Assessment

Running analysis and assessment serves many purposes:

Firstly we can identify specific weakness in muscle groups just by watching you run.

Secondly visual feedback can help you correct compensatory patterns that you may have developed.

Finally, using specialized software we will give you feedback on your form to help improve your running efficiency, speed and reduce your chance of injury.

Your video run analysis and assessment will allow us to examine your current running form. Running analysis is not just for elites, we are here for you whether your goal is to complete you first 5K or qualify for Boston!

  • The software that we utilize allows us to analyze your running gait and accurately measure the degrees of motion at your ankle, knee, and hip and pelvis. When compared to standardized ‘perfect’ form we will give you feedback on where you may be over- or under-compensating.

We will also look at your overall positioning and give you tips and cues on how you may be able to improve your running efficiency. The goal? To make you a more efficient, stronger runner, and to help reduce your risk of injury.

Running is our passion, seriously!

Following your running assessment your running specialist will review the findings with you, and will take objective measures to determine your strength and flexibility of specific muscle groups based on your analysis. We will provide you with a specific exercise plan to help make those improvements. This is also your opportunity to ask any further questions. We want to help you keep running stronger, longer and healthier!

Cash based payment options are also available, please call for more information

Motor Vehicle Injuries

Motor vehicle accidents are traumatic on the whole body. However, head, neck and back injuries are typically the most serious. Head injuries can lead to vision problems, skull fractures and concussions.  Neck injuries are often associated with whiplash; the most common accident injury. Whiplash injuries are due to the sudden forces of impact. These forces stretch and tear the muscles, tendons and ligaments in your neck; this condition can be very painful, and makes even simple daily tasks a challenge. Fortunately, physical therapy has been shown to be particularly effective in relieving pain and restoring motion following a whiplash injury.

How We Help

Here are a few of the most common motor vehicle accident injuries we treat at Ultra Physical Therapy & Hand Center:

  • Whiplash & Neck Pain
  • Mid/Low Back Pain
  • Shoulder injuries
  • Headaches
  • Hip/Knee Injuries

What We Do

At Ultra Physical Therapy & Hand Center our therapists will perform a thorough examination to identify your injuries and limitations. Your treatment will be specific for you, and your tolerance to pain and movement.

Overall, we strive to help you return to your pain-free daily activities as quickly as possible.
