Clancy, PT, DPT, OCS, CHT, Ph.D is an experienced board certified orthopedic sports physical therapist. She is a graduate of the University of St. Augustine, a school founded by Dr. Stanley Paris and highly regarded for manual therapy education. She was taught by Dr. Paris for many of the manual skills she uses to help heal her patients today. Her treatment philosophy places emphasis on function and not only pain. She has been recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as a specialist in orthopedic physical therapy. Furthermore, she has over eleven year’s experience with hand rehabilitation and injury prevention. Dr. Clancy, has proudly attained the distinction of CHT, Certified Hand Therapist one of only ~6,000 in the world, and a distinction rarely seen in the physical therapy profession. Furthermore, she has successfully completed and passed all components of the rigorous APTA sponsored Emory University Vestibular Rehabilitation course; she enjoys using these attained skills to treat and diagnose vertigo and balance impairments. Before her career in physical therapy, she was a Neuroscientist at both the Salk and Scripps research institutes and served as adjunct faculty to the Neuroscience program at UCSD. Her passion for competing in Ultra marathons and Ironman distance triathlon led to unfortunate injuries; for which she turned to physical therapy to get back on course. During treatments she felt an instant connection to the profession, ‘helping people getting back to what they love to do, just perfectly fits with who I am and what drives me’. Her strong background in neuroscience has helped with her approach to patient care and with educating other therapists.
