Hand Therapy

What is a Hand Center?

At Ultra Physical Therapy & Hand Center we love to treat hands, that’s our specialty. The treatment of the elbow, wrist, and hand is a highly specialized skill. We have highly skilled therapists with many years’ experience dedicated to the care of hands. What makes us so skilled? When you schedule an appointment for hand, wrist or elbow pain you will be exclusively cared for by a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT). CHT’s have attained the highest level of training in the profession. They have attained a minimum of 4,000 hours in direct care of patients with upper extremity injuries, a minimum of 3-years’ experience and have passed a comprehensive examination covering advanced clinical skills. There are fewer than 6,000 CHT’s worldwide. Always seek the knowledge and expertise of a CHT for your elbow, wrist or hand pain.

Please visit http://www.htcc.org/about/index.cfm. to learn more about the CHT credential.

How We Help

Firstly, we customize a full program of care dedicated to your specific needs with our goal of getting you back to what you love to so as quickly as possible. Your CHT will provide a clear clinical assessment and will explain how to best manage for your injury, whether from sports, a neurological issue, sprain/strain, work or auto injury, or post-operative rehabilitation. We will make sure that all your questions are answered and you have clear expectations for your care and recovery.

What We Do

Design and implement individualized treatment programs.

Manual Therapy

Manual Therapy: Joint and soft tissue mobilization to help facilitate movement and reduce pain. We provide specialist manual therapy care, by therapist who are certified in mobilization techniques that help decrease pain and improve function.

Strength Conditioning

Identify less efficient muscle groups and/or movement patterns, and design functional exercises to strengthen and improve neuro-muscular coordination.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)

This technique uses stainless steel instruments to help soft tissue injuries to the connective tissues, muscles, neurological tissues and skin. It is effective for soft tissue injuries like repetitive stress injury, strains, sprains and subluxations.

Wound Care

Asses and monitor post-surgical wounds, or wounds due to trauma to reduce chances of infection and promote efficient healthy healing.

Individualized Home Exercise Programs

Designed and written by your physical therapist to facilitate your pathway to recovery.

Custom Fabricated Orthosis (splints)

Protect a healing tendon, ligament or joint when necessary to ensure a speedy safe recovery.

Game Ready’ Compression and Cryotherapy

Ergonomic Assessment

Your position at your desk or working position may or may not be a factor associated with you pain. However, we want to make sure that your positioning is not a contributing factor either now or in the future.
