sport injuries therapy
How we help
Our focus at Ultra is to return our patients to a physical state that exceeds prior performance AND a decreased risk of injury. Prevention is the key to optimum health!
What we do
Design and implement evidence based effective individualized treatment programs that may include:
Manual Therapy
Joint and soft tissue mobilization to help facilitate movement and reduce pain. We provide specialist manual therapy care, by therapist who are certified in mobilization techniques that help decrease pain and improve function.
Strength Conditioning
Identify less efficient muscle groups and/or movement patterns, and design functional exercises to strengthen and improve neuro-muscular coordination for your sport.
Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)
Skilled techniques that help improve range of motion with flexibility-based treatments, and can help increase strength and neuromuscular firing patterns when incorporated into a strengthening program.
Core Strengthening and Balance Training
Having a strong core is very important for posture and overall stability. Think of your core musculature (or abdominal muscles) as the anchor from which your upper and lower limbs function. Without a strong core, you're more likely to be prone to injury during sport, or even everyday life. A strong core is also responsible for your sense of balance. We design specific exercises to help improve core strength, balance and co-ordination.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)
This technique uses stainless steel instruments to help soft tissue injuries to the connective tissues, muscles, neurological tissues and skin. It is effective for soft tissue injuries like repetitive stress injury, strains, sprains and subluxations.
‘Game Ready’ Compression and Cryotherapy
Leading technology designed to get people back to their best after injury or surgery. Used by elites and sports teams around the world, and clinically proven to decrease pain, muscle spasms, and swelling, without the use of narcotics.
Education to optimize your best outcomes and prevent re-injury.
Running Analysis and Assessment
Serves many purposes, firstly we can identify specific weakness in muscle groups just by watching you run. Secondly visual feedback can help you correct compensatory patterns that you may have developed. Finally, using specialized software, we will give you feedback on your form to help improve your running efficiency and ultimately speed.
Run Coaching Programs
We have Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) certified coaches and physical therapists on board eager to help you meet your goal; whether it be complete your first 5K, 50 miler, or qualify for Boston. Please click here for more information.
